We are thrilled to announce that evee is now a certified B Corporation! This is a significant milestone for us, acknowledging the positive impact that we are having as a business whilst also formalising our commitment to continued impact improvement.
What is a B Corp?
B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. These companies are dedicated to balancing purpose and profit, whilst also considering all stakeholders in their decision making. The B Corp movement is made up of 8,000+ purpose-driven businesses worldwide, who are collectively transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet.
Why did evee pursue B Corp certification?
Impact is at the heart of evee – our mission is to accelerate the adoption of EVs powered by renewables for a cleaner future for all. Therefore pursuing B Corp certification felt like a natural next step for us, to ensure that impact was woven into every area of our business: from the way we look after our staff and give back to our community, to how we advocate for the causes we care about and show up as an environmental ally. By becoming a B Corp, we are also holding ourselves to account, as our impact score is public and we’re committing to continued improvement each time we recertify.
Our journey to certification
Becoming a B Corp was a 12 month journey, and was a joint effort involving the whole team. We completed the B Impact Assessment, which is a free tool that any company can use to measure and improve their impact. The BIA tracks your social and environmental performance within five key areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. A company needs 80 points or more within the assessment to become a B Corp – and we’re proud to share that evee certified with a score of 105!
The B Corp framework inspired us to implement new programs, policies and procedures during this time, which would increase our impact and score before we were ready to certify.
This included:
- Menstrual Leave Policy, to support employees impacted by the symptoms of menstruation and menopause
- Supplier Impact Survey, to track the impact and diverse ownership of our supply chain
- Formal donations commitment, currently 0.5% of revenue, donated to environmental charities who share our mission
- Learning & Development budget for all staff, to continue our investment in their growth
- Compassionate Leave Policy that includes companion animals, as “family” may look different for some people
- Flexible work hours to accommodate our team’s lives outside of work & our different working styles
- Offsetting our company’s carbon emissions to become a carbon neutral organisation
Throughout the certification process, we underwent rigorous assessments of our company’s impact, governance, and transparency. We will need to recertify every three years, but we intend to improve our impact on an annual basis by setting impact goals each Financial Year.
What does this mean for our stakeholders?
For our team, becoming a certified B Corp reinforces our shared values and strengthens our sense of purpose. It means that every day, we come to work knowing that we’re part of something bigger than ourselves—a movement of companies using business as a force for good.
For our customers, partners, and communities, B Corp certification is a symbol of trust and integrity. It reassures them that when they choose evee, they’re supporting a company that prioritises ethical business practices, sustainability, and social responsibility.
Our commitment moving forward
While achieving B Corp certification is a significant milestone, it’s just the beginning of our journey. We are committed to continuously improving and finding new ways to make a positive impact. Whether it’s reducing our carbon footprint, supporting an inclusive work culture, or championing diversity within our supply chain, evee will always strive to be a leader in responsible business practices.
